Do you want to improve your pups life skills out in the community, but don't have the time or the energy to purposely socialize and train your pup in public settings?
If yes, then our unique and often asked for Polished Pup is for you!
Polished Pup - bridging the gap between training and real life

Polished pup brings all those basic foundation behaviours from puppy training, polishes them up and then brings them into the real world!

For older puppies (4 - 10 months) that have completed puppy level training with us or elsewhere.

These sessions also help to enrich your puppy's day while you are at work or busy with your daily activities, it's a win-win!

We train your pup for you to improve or fill in any learning gaps, focusing on 'leave it', 'drop it', recall, sit for greetings, loose leash walking and continued socialization.

Sessions are dependant on where your pup is at with its skills
-
We may first need to do a few in-home training sessions over a few days to create stronger behaviours, and then we can take your pup out and about to incorporate their skills in the community

Once pup is ready to go out into the real world with its strengthened behaviours, sessions can be scheduled at any frequency (multiple times per week, once per week, a couple times per month...)

Package rates are time based; one community session may take 1.5 - 2 hrs. or more considering we take your pup to various locations as compared to a 1 hr. in-home session

Then our In-home Puppy Board & Train is for you!
We will get your puppy foundation behaviours up and going for you, and show you how to get the behaviours so you can easily continue to keep them progressing smoothly.
In-home Puppy Board & Train

For pups 9 weeks - 4 months of age at the start of their stay

Pup must have been in your home for at least 1 week prior to their stay

Pup stays Mon. to Fri., and goes home on weekends to be with their family

You drop off Mon. am (prearranged time), or we pick up within Guelph for an added fee

We drop off pup back home and give a 30 min. lesson on Fridays to show you what your pup has learned and how you can implement their new behaviours over the weekend

Do you live out of town and need pup to stay the weekends? Will you be away on vacation and need a different drop-off day?

We can be flexible, same fees apply for weekend dates

2, 3 or 4 week stays (the longer the stay the stronger the behaviours become as we add in distractions)

Formal training sessions throughout the day may include sit/down/stand, leave it, drop it, recall, loose leash walking, intro. to grooming/handling, place, wait, and more; number of behaviours taught and level of proficiency is dependant on length of stay

Continuous informal training including, potty training, chew training, puppy biting, greetings...

This is a very influential period for your pup, hence, we include a variety of social outings to help them become a well-mannered, confident pup

Pictures and/or videos sent throughout their stay

60 min. transfer session on the last Friday of their stay, with a pdf. of the written steps

Pup must be up-to-date on their vaccines according to age, (bordetella is recommended) and show no signs of illness or injury

$160/day (minimum 2 weeks; 10 days) (3 weeks minimum for housetraining)

Does your dog bark and lunge at other dogs when out on leash walks?
We can help change the focus of other dogs back to you so you can enjoy your walks again.
Reactivity On Leash

Working together with you, starting with 4 private sessions, we teach a behaviour and strengthen it to the level where it overrides lunging and barking

We then take this strengthened behaviour out into the neighbourhood and work the with the real life scenarios

Limited availability. For select, current or past clients of PWDT who are looking for a place to take care of their well-behaved dog for a short stay. Your dog will become a part of our family for their stay, with regular walks, play-time, and cuddles. Updates throughout their stay. Since your dog will be living in the home of a trainer, you don't have to worry that all your hard work will go out the window because, well, we taught you!
